1858 and wed on the same day by J. H. Wood, Justice of the Peace.

Monteville Patton Coley was born August 9, 1833 in Georgia. He married in Lumpkin County on
October 5, 1856 to Mahaley Parmelia Pierce, who was born September 22, 1839 in Hall County, GA, the daughter of Wilson Pierce
and Nancy Barton. They had eleven children and lived in Lumpkin, Hall, Banks and Habersham Counties. Monteville enlisted on
August 31, 1861 in Co. G. 23rd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry for Cherokee County. He was hospitalized on December 10,
1861 at Richmond, VA and discharged at Yorktown VA on January 2, 1862. Monteville died July 5, 1902 in Habersham County, and
Melie died January 22, 1917 in Ocilla, Irwin County, GA, where she had recently moved to live with her son.
